EdTech for Parents

On March 12, the Library Tech Commons team organized a Tech Tuesday to explain to parents a few of the ways that the teachers are using educational technology in the classrooms.

Parents began by joining one of two demonstrations, then swapped for the second half of the gathering. Spanish Teacher Jesús Parra described how he’s been using the software Tango Teach on the Legamaster to teach Spanish to the Lower School boys, while Lower School Teacher Librarian Bonnie Tucker and Academic Technology Integrator Peter Fletcher walked parents through their collaborative efforts using the software Pages on the second grade immigration research project.

For the last 15 minutes, Sarah Kresberg, Director of the Library Tech Commons, explained to parents how she works with the fifth grade boys on Project Find and Share. This project allows boys to select their own technology tools to share favorite books both within and outside of A-S and is designed to encourage the boys to read as much as possible.
