Make Design Tinker

If you love to make things or are just looking to try it out, you have come to the right place!
In addition to all the great making you do in art and shop classes, there are other times you can experience making at A-S. Learn new skills and show off what you know by participating in our maker badge program. Middle School boys can spend snacktivity time in room 540 working on personal projects and building skills. Also, look out for electives that involve making. The Shed in the Library Tech Commons has lots of useful tools and supplies. Find out what they are and how to access them. Lots of maker tools are digital. Go to this page to for online tutorials so you can pick up these useful skills. Check out all the helpful books we have on making. Want to see what other boys have been up to? Check out the photographs in our maker showcase. Learn from each other by creating and sharing instructions for the projects you create. The world is rich with maker experiences! Get inspiration by attending maker events and visiting maker websites!

Give Us Your Junk

From time to time we collect items for our Shed. Currently we are looking for:

Our Make Design Tinker Creed

We are the Allen-Stevenson makers.
We follow our curiosity to see where it will take us.
We explore electronics, engineering, programming, arts and crafts, and technology.
We solve our own problems and pursue our own interests and passions.
We also take on problems in the world.
We repurpose and repair stuff and see beauty and utility in unwanted items.
We take risks in order to be as creative as possible.
We persevere when solutions evade us and we work through our disagreements.
We share what we’ve learned with people near and far.
We learn skills and processes that will serve us throughout our lives.
We are the Allen-Stevenson makers!
